A simple rest day. Kept reading Bird by Bird. Didn't get into much else — went through some documents, and worked a bit on the architectural side of another piece of work: an AI-agent ecosystem for ERP and CRM. And then I actually rested. I've started letting myself take rest lately, so I kept today very light. Friday, I want to get back to reading more papers.
The thing that's been settling in my mind. After really analyzing what companies are demanding, I've changed how I think about roles. Earlier I was fine with the idea that if the company or the problem statement was exciting, I'd just join in any role. But over time — and especially in the US scenario — I've realized it's not that simple. You can't just join a company and then say, oh, I'm interested in this other problem, can I go work on it? That's genuinely difficult here. So I want to make sure I'm focusing more toward the research-engineer role — where the work is actually about improving things, figuring out new solutions, building at the intersection of innovation and research. This internship, honestly, sits right at the intersection of research engineering and forward-deployed engineering. And I did a small experiment today too, on how these roles actually differ, and why people don't focus enough on the real fundamentals.
